Our Team

Sandra D. Elder, MD

Founder / Director

Dr. Elder is a summa cum laude and Phi Kappa Phi graduate of the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and is licensed as a registered pharmacist. She earned the Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ-New Jersey Medical School, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

She completed an internal medicine internship at St. Luke’s Hospital, New York, NY, and a dermatology residency at Hahnemann University, serving as chief resident. She completed additional laser training in skin resurfacing, tattoo removal, hair removal and treatment of hyperpigmentation and vascular disorders. Dr. Elder also served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Drexel University in Philadelphia for several years and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Rutgers University-SOM.

Dr. Elder is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. She has been named SJ Magazine’s Top Doc & South Jersey Magazine’s Top Physician consistently from 2004 through present, additionally featured as a “Super Woman” in South Jersey Magazine for her volunteerism with her “You Go Girl, Donna’s Day” annual event for breast cancer survivors. She has also been recognized for tattoo removal in New Jersey Monthly Magazine’s Best of New Jersey Select Surgeons, Plastic Surgery, January 2025.

Dr. Elder’s special areas of expertise include dermatologic cancer surgery, medical/pediatric dermatology and cosmetic dermatology, including facial/body rejuvenation treatments with laser/light devices, fillers and botulinum toxins, skin tightening/lifting and body sculpting.

In her spare time, Dr. Elder enjoys fitness, music, travel, reading and spending time with her wonderful husband and three incredible children.

Anna Calderone, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Anna Kathryn Calderone, MMS, PA-C is a dermatology Physician Assistant who joined Aesthetic Dermatology in March 2022. Anna completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh and received her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies with honors from Salus University in November 2021. She is certified by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Anna’s professional affiliations include the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) and American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).  Anna had two years of dermatology experience working as a medical assistant at a busy dermatology practice in the suburbs of Philadelphia. During PA school, Anna completed her master’s thesis on Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans, a rare skin cancer. Anna also completed two 4-week dermatology clinical rotations while in her clinical year of PA school as well as a year of training alongside Dr. Elder. Anna is especially interested in general dermatology for all ages including skin cancer, psoriasis, rosacea, acne, eczema, and all other rashes/skin growths. She has trained with Dr. Elder on surgical dermatologic procedures as well.

Anna was born and raised in the western suburbs of Philadelphia in Delaware County and currently lives in Philadelphia. When she is not working, she loves to spend time with her friends on the beach at the Jersey shore and read historical fiction books. She also enjoys running on the Philly Schuylkill river trail. She looks forward to meeting you and creating a long lasting patient-provider relationship.
